If you like historical fiction then “The Boys Who Challenged Hitler” by Phillip Hoose is the book for you. The story is about the Churchill Club and how they try to save the country of Denmark. The book follows the main characters Knud and Jens Peterson and their group named the Churchill Club. A huge problem that the characters have is that Denmark surrenders to the Germans. This is a huge problem because the Germans act like they can do anything they want, and many Danish people cannot defend themselves.  The Churchill Club sabotages the Germans in many ways.  You may think everything is fine, but it’s not. Fifteen year old Knud Petersen was ashamed of how his government surrendered that easily. Soon after that he gets his brother and classmates to fight the Germans. Knud and Jens and the rest of their club go through crazy adventures. For example stealing guns from the Germans, obtaining bombs, and getting thrown in jail. If you loved The Boys Who Challenged Hitler by Phillip Hoose then you might also like I Survived the Nazi Invasion by Lauran Tarshis. These books connect because they both take place in WWII. Also both characters have a problem with the Germans and I Survived their home country of Poland and how they also decide to fight back. The main characters are Max and Zena, and they have to survive the German invasion. In the middle of the story they meet their aunt and help her sabotage the Germans just like in The Boys who Challenged Hitler. Make sure to read I survived the Nazi Invasion by Lauran Tarshis but don’t forget to also read The Boy Who Challenged Hitler by Phillip Hoose.
